FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
New Year Cellphone and Cancer Presentations
Local biomedical engineering professor and Last Tree Laws director share expertise
Greater Springfield - The connection between cancer and cellphones is a growing public concern, and so a local environmental health group, Last Tree Laws, is coordinating several free events in the Greater Springfield area for the new year.
Saturday afternoon, January fourth, biomedical engineering doctorate and local professor Dr. Diane Testa presents at Holyoke Public Library on the science and actual health risks of cell phones, introduced by Last Tree Laws director Kirstin Beatty. This is a technical presentation meant for local doctors as well as local academics and teachers with a scientific background. If bad weather cancels, the event will be held in the early evening January seventh.
Thursday evening, January ninth, Last Tree Laws director Kirstin Beatty presents at Springfield Mason Square Library on wireless risks, legislative and community responses, followed by group discussion of how to develop proactive, safer habits. If bad weather cancels, the event will be held the following day, Friday afternoon.
Per director Kirstin Beatty: “Canada, Italy, France, and other countries are being proactive, and we hope Massachusetts can be moved to action as well. We especially hope doctors will attend Dr. Testa’s presentation to influence their patients to adopt healthier habits, and that individuals who can help move the dial join my presentation.”
Reservations can be made through the Last Tree Laws or EventBrite websites. Other events in the process of being planned will continue to be posted online at Last Tree Laws.
